The village feel is extremely important to the locals and visitors alike, and with the quality of shopping, food and entertainment is getting better and better. The town continues to go from strength to strength. The snow has been a little late in arriving this winter, but has finally arrived with all mountains open! The town is humming and has seen a lot of developments in the cafe/restaurant scene. A new Italian restaurant named Aosta has opened directly opposite Golden Fleece. It is headed by NZ celebrity chef, Ben Bayley, and is the new must-visit dining experience. Slow Cuts, renowned for its gourmet burgers, rotisserie chicken and slow-cooked meats has moved into a much larger venue with a bar, in conjunction with local brewery Lake & Wood. The New Orleans has also had an upgrade and now looks like a new pub, with great food, sports and live music. “The Shed” has the best burgers and milkshakes in town.
